It mostly occurs on the eyelids. The exact cause is still unknown, but some cases involve people with high cholesterol and high blood lipids.<\/p>\n<h3>symptom<\/h3>\n<p>Xanthelasma is a yellow lump that appears on the skin. It is neither itchy nor painful. It is most common on the upper and lower eyelids near the bridge of the nose. It can gradually melt into lumps. Most xanthoma appears on both eyelids at the same time. It may also grow on one eyelid first and then gradually appear on the other eyelid. In severe cases, xanthoma will form a circle along the upper and lower eyelids, affecting the appearance.<\/p>\n<h3>treatment method<\/h3>\n<p>Xanthelasma does not grow large quickly and will not turn into malignant tumors or skin cancer, but it will not disappear on its own, so the main purpose of treatment is to improve its appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Currently available methods for treating xanthelasma include electrical cautery, liquid nitrogen freezing, corrosive liquids, etc. However, the therapeutic effects of these methods are relatively average. In addition, the affected areas are mostly located on the eyelids. If not handled carefully, the eyes may be injured. leading to serious sequelae.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Surgical removal:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Direct surgical excision may leave significant scars and even change the appearance of the eye.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Laser Treatment:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Laser treatment uses carbon dioxide laser to vaporize and eliminate xanthelasma tissue, which is currently the best treatment method.<strong>After treatment, only the wound scab is left on the superficial layer of the skin. No obvious scar will be left after the scab falls off, and the effect is quite satisfactory.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that the recurrence rate of xanthoma is not low. Some reports indicate that the chance of recurrence may even be as high as 50%. Therefore, patients must be mentally prepared before treatment. In addition, although there are no reports showing an inevitable relationship between xanthelasma and high cholesterol and high blood lipids, it is recommended that patients take this opportunity to check the cholesterol in their bodies.
