Bile is composed of a variety of substances, which are usually completely excreted from the body. The body also has a mechanism to prevent the accumulation of these substances. However, once the mechanism fails, bile will crystallize in the gallbladder and form gallstones, blocking the gallbladder opening.<\/p>\n

Some gallstones can make people feel "painful", and some people only discover them during physical examination. "Cholesterol stones", which are more common in Westerners, can be dissolved with drugs, but "pigment stones", which are more common in Easterners, require surgery. The traditional laparotomy for gallbladder removal usually requires hospitalization for 5 to 7 days, and the wound is longer and will leave scars. The new laparoscopic surgery only needs three small incisions, and the recovery time is three days shorter than that of open surgery, and the scars are small and inconspicuous. As for kidney stones, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is not suitable for the treatment of gallstones.<\/p>\n

Women, obese people, people over 40 years old, hyperlipidemia, diabetes or multiple pregnancies are all high-risk groups. It is recommended to eat regularly and quantitatively, choose low-sugar, low-fat, low-cholesterol and high-fiber foods, get enough rest, exercise moderately, and have annual body checks, all of which are ways to prevent gallstones.<\/p>\n
