After the examination, it was found that it was caused by "Hernia", which is commonly known as "small intestinal gas", also known as "intestinal shedding". Under normal circumstances, our intestines and internal organs are wrapped and hidden by the abdominal muscle layer. When the abdominal muscle layer becomes thin or weak, the internal organs (in most cases, the small intestine) are squeezed out of their original positions through this gap, which is a hernia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the elderly and pregnant women, intestinal gas problems are also common in young children. Because the congenital structure of the groin or navel of the child is not completely closed, the abdominal pressure increases when crying or coughing, which may cause part of the intestinal tract to protrude through the gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two types of intestinal gas in infants and young children: inguinal hernia (groin gas) and navel hernia (navel gas). The former is mostly related to the congenital structure. When the male embryo develops, the testicles originally located in the abdominal cavity can move down to the scrotum outside the abdominal cavity through the inguinal canal. After the procedure is completed, the opening of the inguinal canal will usually close automatically. If it cannot be completely closed and a gap is left, it may cause intestinal gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women can also suffer from inguinal gas, which can be the small intestine, ovaries or part of the fallopian tubes. However, because the inguinal canal in women is narrower than that in men, the chance of suffering from this disease is relatively low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navel gas means that when the fetus is still in the mother\u2019s body, there is a congenital circular gap at the navel, which will usually close automatically at birth; gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, most of the navel emptiness will close on its own before the age of two, and the small intestine gas in the navel is different from the gas in the groin, and rarely causes complications or tightens the small intestine. If after the child is two years old, the gas in the navel and small intestine still shows no signs of recovery, then surgery is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Symptoms can be observed with the naked eye<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you suspect that your child has intestinal gas, parents should pay attention to the child's appearance changes, such as whether the scrotum and groin are swollen or asymmetrical on both sides of the boy, and whether the inner thigh or outer labia are swollen for girls; when the child is standing, crying, After coughing or straining to defecate, the swelling or asymmetry is more obvious, such as when the body is lying down and the mood is calm, the swelling is slightly retracted into the abdominal cavity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because it is difficult for young children to clearly express physical discomfort or pain in words, if parents find that the small intestinal gas is swollen and hardened, the skin becomes red or even bruised, and the child has vomiting, crying, restlessness, etc., it may be a sign of healing. The swollen small intestinal gas is stuck by the gap and cannot be retracted. In severe cases, small intestinal ischemia and necrosis may occur, requiring urgent medical attention. If the clinical symptoms are not obvious, the doctor may conduct ultrasound, computer scan and other examinations for further diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Except for navel hernia, which can be observed until the child is about two years old, other types of hernia rarely heal on their own. If it is not treated early, the protruding hernia may become bigger and bigger. If it falls to the scrotum and presses the testicle for a long time, it will affect its blood circulation and cause testicular atrophy or even necrosis. Once the hernia is stuck by the gap, it will hinder the The blood supply and peristalsis in the intestinal tract make it impossible for the substances inside to pass through smoothly, which may lead to serious complications such as intestinal infarction and intestinal necrosis. There is a greater chance of intestinal perforation if the hernia is over squeezed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Difficult self-healing requires radical surgery<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The above conditions can only be cured through surgical treatment. The current treatment methods can be divided into traditional open hernia repair surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopic hernia repair surgery, which are performed under general anesthesia. The traditional laparotomy method is mostly used for navel hernia. The doctor will make an incision along the lower part of the patient's navel, and repair the navel gap with needles and thread or artificial materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for inguinal hernia, minimally invasive surgery is usually used for treatment. The doctor will make three or four small holes in the patient's navel and lower abdomen, and then put in surgical instruments and lenses to pull the small intestine back to its original position in the abdominal cavity, and then use the fibrous membrane to repair the gap in the inguinal canal to reduce the risk of recurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The advantage of minimally invasive laparoscopic hernia repair surgery is that the same problem can be checked through the lens on the other side of the groin at the same time, and the repair operation can be performed at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, if it is suspected that the small intestine is tightened and there are emergencies such as damage and ischemia, the doctor can also use the lens to carefully examine it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intestinal gas repair mostly uses self-melting and absorbable sutures, so there is no need to remove the sutures after the operation, but care must be taken to keep the wound dry. Generally, the gauze on the wound can be removed after one week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents should pay attention to avoid strenuous exercise or any action that increases abdominal pressure, including bending over and jumping, within 3 to 4 weeks after the operation, so as not to increase the chance of intestinal gas recurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
